Starting this Thursday the 19th and ending Sunday, January 29th, Canada with host seven other nations in order to compete for two spots in the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London. The countries who will be battling it out for the top two spots are: Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Haiti, USA, Mexico, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic.
Canada is entering the competition as a pretty solid candidate after their first ever gold medal win at the 2011 Pan-American games. They won 4-3 in an overtime shootout against Brazil.

The event will be hosted at the newly renovated BC Place and will be quite the spectacle. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.

On October 28th we held our first annual West Coast Amazing Race. Participants were given a task list with items ranging from “Name that furniture item” at the Peking Lounge in Chinatown, to “What are you drinking” at Terracotta Modern Chinese in Gastown. We had some great competitors but two teams emerged as this years champions.

Granville Island’s artistic flare has glass blowers, weavers, Granville Island Brewery, sake tasting, art galleries, and the world renowned Public Market!
Also, now that tourist season is over the crowds that flock to Granville Island have diminished. For all those that like a little bit of space in the market to explore, there is no better time to go visit Granville Island!
A last tip if your looking for the best fish & chips in Vancouver. Around the bend from Granville Island is “Go Fish.” This little container (made from a refurbished storage container) will blow your mind with delicious overload!
Vancouver is a very health conscious city. It is common to see the fascination among many West Coast Sightseeing guests over how many locals are running, cycling, and being active. Some of our own active guests who took a Vancouver Urban Adventure Bike Tour got up close to an interesting event taking place at the Olympic Cauldron at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
A few hundred people gathered in the square to practice Taoist Tai Chi.
This event was to promote awareness on healthy living and the unique
practice that many Vancouverites utilize to it’s maximum potential.

Some of our West Coast Sightseeing Tour Buses were re-routed Sunday for the Gastown Motorcycle Show N’ Sine. From drag racing bikes to Harley’s to road bikes to tricked out choppers, Gastown was packed with amazing two wheel machines. Whether you’re a bike enthusiast or not the atmosphere was vibrant with live bands and acts even getting some of the “Bad Ass” biker’s shaking their hips.
The three best bikes will be shown on the Drag Specialties/Parts Canada website at www.partscanada.com between September 1-30, 2010 where YOU will be able to log in and vote for YOUR favorite bike. The bike with the most votes will be named their “2010 National Best in Show” Champion and will win a set of tires, valued up to $500.
All proceeds from the ballots purchased at this event were donated to the Association for Injured Motorcyclists (AIM)- Vancouver.
